Early on, Dan played a Southern five-state circuit, opening for Barbara Lewis, Clifford Curry, The Shirelles, The Drifters and others.

Drawing upon his "Carolina Beach Music" experience, Dan brings plenty of rhythm and soul to his phrasing, taking cues from King Curtis, Jr. Walker and Maceo Parker.
